Green Idea Generator

The Hopkins Sustainability Initiative is currently working in partnership with ESW, SEA, and HEAT to start a project called the Green Idea Generator. The Idea Generator's basic goal is to bring together students, staff, and faculty who will undertake projects designed and run by students to make the campus more sustainable.

The kickoff meeting will be an opportunity to bring any and all ideas for projects to the table. All ideas will be evaluated based on student interest, feasbility of completing within one academic year, and degree to which they advance sustainability on campus. The top two or three ideas will be chosen and pursued by a group of students, faculty advisors, and a facilities liaison.

Many faculty members have already expressed their interest in taking part, including:

Professor Gray (ChemE)
Professor Betenbaugh (ChemE)
Professor Hanes (ChemE)
Professor Hufnagel (MatSci)
Professor Erlebacher (MatSci)
Professor Guest (Civil)
Professor Schafer (Civil)
Professor Ball (DoGEE)
Professor Norman (DoGEE)
Professor Waugh (Earth & Planetary Sciences)
Professor McGurty (Environmental Sciences & Policy)
Dean Boswell (Dean of Student Life)

Students are already working to prepare and organize the ideas they plan to propose by filling out the Idea Generator Template. You do not need to be a member of one of the student groups to participate. If you are not involved with one of the student groups but have an idea of your own, please e-mail Blake Hough (bhough@jhu.edu) to request a copy of the Template and submit by Tuesday, November 13th. IN ORDER TO PRESENT AN IDEA AT THE EVENT, YOU MUST FILL OUT THE TEMPLATE AND SUBMIT IT BEFORE TUESDAY, NOV. 13th.

Please join us with your ideas for helping Hopkins move towards a more sustainable future!
